RSVPSolo exhibition presenting a decade of Lou Melchior’s photography, bringing together images that oscillate between the familiar and the unknowable. About Melchior captures the incidental overlooked object the passing shadow and the fragment of everyday life and quietly turns them against themselves revealing a world at once intimate elusive and faintly absurd. ‘ The Van, the Sock and the Shadows’ invites us to reconsider what we believe we recognise and to consider the strange solitude that lies within our shared experience. There is something familiar in Lou Melchior’s photographs, but it is rarely allowed to remain familiar for long. A van, a sock, a shadow, a corner of a room: things that might otherwise pass unnoticed become strangely charged, caught between recognition and uncertainty. In ‘The Van, the Sock and the Shadows’, Melchior looks at the everyday and quietly unsettles it, asking what happens when the things we know begin to lose their place in the world. Lou Melchior (b. 1973, Copenhagen) studied Fine Art at Parsons NYC, BA Fine Art Sculpture at Chelsea College of Art and MA Photography at Goldsmiths. Her photographic practice and collage is a continuous enquiry rather than a series of fixed bodies of work. This photographic exhibition set over 2 floors and 6 rooms is part of PhotoMonth October 2026 PhotoMonth is an East London photography festival whose 2026 programme includes exhibitions and an open-call programme centred on photography, expanded photographic practices, lived experience and community. press@photograph-arts.org https://photograph-arts.org GALLEREY46 is an independent contemporary art gallery distinguished by its dynamic programme and commitment to artists with a distinctive vision and lasting relevance.
