RSVP"The Wondersome and Peculiar Voyages: Casa di Macau" is an immersive exhibition that transforms the historical Casa de Macau into a "cozy home" for contemporary global dialogue. Curated by Ricardo Barbosa Vicente, the duo Marta Stanisława Sala and Cheong Kin Man fuse the experimental spirit of Macau’s and Berlin’s translingualism with the inspiratom of Tadeusz Kantor’s Polish avant-garde. The exhibition is a direct component of an ongoing research project supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Macau Scientific and Cultural Centre in Lisbon (CCCM). It features textile pieces commissioned for the Cricoteka Museum (Krakow) and works destined for the Rui Cunha Foundation Gallery (Macau). These objects function as "living ideograms," translating the visual logic of world languages into tactile forms that enter into a sophisticated conversation with 500 years of global history. Shared with the resident colony of wild cats and the landmark Avalokiteshvara sculpture by Cristina Rocha Leiria, this project offers a rare gateway into a "hidden gem" of Alvalade, proving that profound cultural diplomacy lives within the hospitality of a "cozy home." The special program for LAW culminates on Nov 7, 2026, with a European-Asian-African finger food crossover as an artistic happening, inviting the public to “speak” through taste and texture. Title : The Wondersome and Peculiar Voyages: Casa di Macau Scheduled Highlights for LAW 2026: November 5th: Vernissage & Translingual Hospitality: The opening features a participatory happening mediated by a mini artist book. Visitors are invited to decode the textile objects as an invented ideogrammic grammar, mirroring the centuries-old process of Macanese creolization-a joyful way of "reading" the world through both Berlin-inspired deconstruction and the warmth of a shared home. November 6th - 7th: Continuous Artist-Led Tours: Marta and Kin Man will be present at Casa de Macau during opening hours to host the public within this "cozy home" setting. They will provide guided insights into their experimental auto-ethnographic research, the sewing of the dolls, and the translingual archives brought from their shared base in Berlin. November 7th: Transnational Culinary Dialogue (The Eurasiafro Finale): The weekend culminates in a high-sensory performance: a culinary crossover where Macau’s Luso-Asian-Cantonese flavors meet Polish and Cape Verdean traditions. This Euro-Asia-Afro happening activates the garden and terrace, finalizing the project’s journey by turning the "hidden gem" of Alvalade into a shared transnational kitchen. Curated by: Ricardo Barbosa Vicente (Independent Curator / Cultural Advisor to Capverdean Embassy in Lisbon) Institutional Support: Honorary Patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Lisbon Research Support: Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) & Macau Scientific and Cultural Centre in Lisbon (CCCM)
