RSVPA national juried exhibition exploring levels of light transmission, translucency, and opacity as conditions of discovery and comprehension. About The desire to see through something is an impulse as fundamental as vision itself— the need to understand what lies beneath the surface, to make sense of a world that rarely presents itself completely. Between the extremes of transparency, which promises total knowledge but can overwhelm with too much information, and opacity, which stops us short at impenetrable surfaces, lies the realm of translucency: the filtered light, the partial view, the diaphanous form that emerges gradually. This exhibition explores levels of light transmission that begets translucency, a condition of visibility as much as being visible. Artists working in any material and who explore clarity, translucency, and opacity as conditions of discovery and comprehension are welcome to submit. This national juried exhibition is open to artists working in any media. We welcome diverse approaches and materials, including but not limited to ceramics, glass, sculpture, painting, photography, mixed media, digital and installation. Curator and juror is Netflix Blown Away Resident Evaluator, Artist/Professor, Katherine Gray. People's Choice Award: The recipient will receive a Solo Exhibition at RAFFMA's Mueller Gallery in 2028.
