RSVPDimitri Chamblas delves into the life stories of two remarkable dancers in Ulysse Marion. About Through long conversations with Marion Barbeau and Ulysse Zangs, Chamblas resurfaced childhood memories of their training with the Paris Opera Ballet and how their rigorous commitment to movement from a young age indelibly shaped their lives and transformed them into unique, interdisciplinary artists. Each performs a solo, revealing how their foundation in dance has intertwined with other practices—music for Ulysse, acting for Marion—to hone their bodies as finely tuned instruments with exceptional physical skill and emotional sensitivity. In this intimate piece, Chamblas uses choreography to rediscover buried memories as Barbeau and Zangs reveal the breadth of their feelings. Inspired by an experience in the California desert that reminded him that seemingly empty spaces are often inhabited by invisible presences, Chamblas transforms REDCAT into a vast, empty space to present Ulysse Marion as a portrait of artists laid bare.
